Timelapse of me sitting around a campfire and enjoying the clouds and stars on the first night of 2017. The desert landscape in the background appears a bit brighter in the beginning due to some light from the setting crescent moon behind the camera. Watch the shadows move. I like how the stars and clouds move in very different directions here. To produce this video I shot 618 frames each at 30 seconds f/4.5 ISO 2000 with my Canon 6D and Sigma 15mm. I didn't see any coyotes, but near the end of the night a kangaroo rat came to visit and eat the popcorn that I had spilled on the ground. This area is nicknamed "Hollywood & Vine" because there was an old street sign placed here decades ago with those names on it. A couple of years ago, the sign was stolen. There are recent reports, however, that the park rangers found the old sign discarded on some BLM land. Hopefully they reinstall the sign soon.
